Beltane Ranch
Featured Project
Beltane Ranch in Glen Ellen, California was owned by Mary Allen Pleasant the late 19th century. Pleasant was an influential woman in the Bay Area in the late 1800's, owning many properites in the area, and is often credited as being both the first black and first female self-made millionaire. In 2021 Beltane Ranch was recognized as a Black Historic Site and awarded third place in the National Parks Service's Historic Black Landscapes due to a proposal co-created by Kara Brunzell.
